講題 Whole Person Education & University Transformation:Re-thinking General Education for a 100-Year Life 講者 Prof. Lily Kong / Singapore Management University President 江莉莉教授 / 新加坡管理大學校長 演講簡介 Whole person education has re-emerged as a central concern in university reformsworldwide, yet its implementation remains uneven and often peripheral to the coreacademic enterprise. As life expectancy extends and the prospect of the "100-year life" becomes reality, universities face an urgent imperative to rethink their fundamental purpose. This lecture argues that universities must move beyond their traditional emphasis on cognitive development and disciplinary specialisation to embrace whole-person education — developing students' emotional resilience, interpersonal skills, self-awareness, and humanity alongside their intellectual capabilities. Drawing on historical perspectives and contemporary challenges facing higher education, Prof Kong examines four critical dimensions of transformation: (1)nurturing multiple intelligences beyond the cognitive; (2) accentuating human qualities in an age of AI; (3) creating space for interdisciplinary depth; and (4)committing to lifelong partnership with learners. She offers practical insights for how universities can reimagine general education as central to preparing individuals for meaningful, impactful lives across an extended horizon. 「全人教育」已再度成為全球大學改革的核心議題，然而實際推動上卻顯得步調不一，且常被排擠至核心學術體系之外。隨著人類預期壽命延長，「百歲人生」的願景逐步成真，大學面臨著迫切的使命，必須重新反思其根本宗旨與定位。本講座主張，大學必須突破傳統上偏重認知發展與學科專業化的框架，轉而致力於推動全人教育——在培養學生智識能力的同時，同步涵養其情緒韌性、人際溝通、自我覺察及人文素養。 江莉莉教授將援引歷史視角並結合高等教育面臨的當代挑戰，深入剖析四大關鍵變革面向： 1. 培育認知能力以外的多元智能； 2. 在人工智慧時代彰顯人本特質； 3. 為跨學科的深度整合創造空間； 4. 致力於與學習者建立終身夥伴關係。 她提出了切實的見解，探討大學應如何重塑通識教育並視其為核心，使學生準備好在更長遠的未來中，活出充滿意義與影響力的生命。
